Construction Engineering and Management

Today's construction engineers and managers are faced with unprecedented challenges in planning, designing and managing the construction process and maintaining the public and private facilities required to meet society's needs. The graduate degree programs at North Carolina State University (NCSU) lead to advanced degrees in Civil Engineering with specialization in Construction Engineering and Management. Built on the fundamentals of civil engineering, this program combines a balance of the latest developments in construction technologies and management principles with other disciplines which are required in order to understand and solve the broad range of challenges confronting the construction industry. The construction program cooperates with other areas to offer students the opportunity for interdisciplinary study and research. Computer applications for construction utilizing state-of-the-art computing facilities are integrated into the program.

North Carolina State University has a distinguished history of providing educational and research support to the construction industry. NCSU's undergraduate construction program was the first professionally-accredited construction engineering program in the nation. NCSU was also first to organize focused leadership and management training programs for construction industry executives. Activities in support of the construction industry include extension programs, cooperative work/study programs, a wide range of continuing education programs, and industry oriented research and development. The construction faculty members are actively involved in many construction-related national and international professional organizations. Among the over 200 civil engineering departments in the US, the NCSU department consistently ranks in the top 10% in all measures of activity, size, and quality of programs.
