Environmental Water Resources and Coastal Engineering - Graduate Degree Programs
The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering offers programs of study leading to the Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Civil Engineering (M.C.E.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. The M.S. degree requires a minimum of 31 hours of graduate work including six hours of thesis credit and a one credit seminar course.
Master of Civil Engineering
Thirty-one hours of graduate course work are required for the M.C.E. degree. An independent study project may be substituted for up to three hours of course work with the agreement of a faculty adviser.
Master of Science
The Master of Science (MS) is a thesis degree and requires a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate study, including a maximum of 6 hours thesis content.
Doctor of Philosophy
For the Ph.D program, there are no definite credit hour requirements. One year of course work beyond the master's degree is typical. The major element of the doctoral program is the dissertation, which reports an original investigation leading to a significant contribution to knowledge.
Final oral examinations are required for the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
