Research Facilities - Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineering
The recently completed Constructed Facilities Laboratory (CFL) of the new North Carolina State University Engineering Graduate Research Center (EGRC) contains over 12,000 square feet and includes 30-foot ceilings with overhead cranes, a 13-foot-thick multi-cell-box strong floor, and two 24-foot tall strong walls.
A state of the art geotechnical laboratory includes prototype-scale and full-scale test pits and a grouting pit. Advanced testing equipment includes a stress path triaxial testing system, a calibration chamber, and a gas chromatograph and resonant column. In situ testing equipment includes a pressure meter and a Marchetti dilatometer.
