Tuition and Fees

Graduate students are responsible for payment of applicable tuition and fees unless they are included in assistantships, fellowships or traineeships. The tuition and fees for North Carolina residents are among the lowest in the nation; however, nonresidents must pay significantly higher tuition than residents. The tuition currently is paid for three to four semesters for Master's and up to six semesters for Ph.D. half-time graduate teaching or research assistants who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or international students. Out-of-state U.S. students may qualify for North Carolina residency after one year. Additional information on procedures for establishing residency and the current tuition and fees is available from the Graduate School.
