Dr. Joel Ducoste is working with researchers in the College of Natural Resources to model the production of the compounds that make up the cell walls of plants. These compounds, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can serve as feedstocks for biofuels production. As a result, models to predict their growth can be used to consider strategies for higher yields. This work is supported by the Department of Energy.
