The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering encourages active collaboration and cross-disciplinary activities and has a strong commitment to innovative research. The department supports close partnerships with industry and government in an effort to conduct research at the cutting edge of science and technology. Research sponsored and funded by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation is focused primarily in serving public needs and enhancing the ability of industry and government to respond to those needs.
