As you know the First USUCGER Workshop was held at University of Houston in 1987, and the Second in University of Texas-Arlington in 1991. The USUCGER Board feels the time is ripe for another USUCGER Workshop where important matters about the USUCGER will be discussed. At the USUCGER Workshop each member university will have a chance for one representative to give a 5 to 10- minute presentation on their current research activities. USUCGER will subsidize up to $500 per registrant, but only one faculty per "dues-paying" member university.
In this year, as in the past, USUCGER will support one member from each institution by providing accommodations for three nights at the Conference Hotel and a complimentary registration to the event. This includes three Continental Breakfasts and lunches, two dinners (Sunday and Monday), one reception (Sunday) and six refreshments breaks, all conference sessions, and one copy of either a CD-ROM or traditional hard copy proceeding.
As in the past, each University will present a 5 minute presentation that will include the names of the faculty, listing of the graduate courses, and a summary of the past, ongoing, and perhaps future areas of research (whatever one chooses to include). Facilities for the use of an overhead projector, slide projector, and computer projector (with computer and loaded with PowerPoint) will also be available. It is estimated that the individual University presentations will occupy all day Sunday, Monday, and part of Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon will be devoted to presentations by invited funding organizations to include but not limited to: NSF, FHWA, AFSOR, ASFE, ASCE CERF and the GI, EPA, USGS, and ADSC.
Prior to the meeting, each University will be requested to furnish a camera ready copy of their "Univ. Research Report." A proposed format will be posted on the USUCGER Home Page. Again, not all items need to be addressed in your report.
To register for this year's conference, you may respond to me by completing the form that follows this message. We will cross-reference your name and institution to the approved list USUCGER provides and then confirm your registration.
For those who are not supported but plan to attend, the hotel rate is $81.00 per night and the conference registration fee is $265.00. The same form may be used for those paying registrants by completing the section regarding payment. Once your registration is received and processed, a packet of information including your receipt, information about things to do in Newport, etc. will be sent to you.
For your convenience, the Travel Source has offered to provide travel assistance to Newport.
